I just saw this great speech from Daniel Pink on youtube and he speaks out of my heart! Financial rewards, incentives, we have to think again and again about it. For me, it isn’t the way of more success. For Daniel Pink the driver for success are:
Autonomy
Mastery
Purpose

You are searching for the “ideal” communication? There is none! Sorry!
If you are thinking about your own style you should consider that you need to think about the “context of the situation” and “personality of the involved parties”. Friedemann Schulz von Thun, a German psychologist, differs 8 styles of communication and interaction. In the next days I want to show you in my blog the different types and please, don’t try to force yourself in one of the patterns. Nobody is fitting in only one of the 8 styles
An interesting fact is, that every style has strengths and weaknesses but if you can figure out one as your major style you can get an idea of the direction for your personal development in communication. Anyway, look at the styles with a bit of humor! I am absolutely sure you will identify one of your friends, co-workers, chiefs, mates etc.
Today we start with
The “needy/dependent” style
The aim of this style is to get help and support. To get this, he or her pretend tob e weak, helpless and nonviable. He or her gives the counterpart the feeling to be strong and competent!
If you see the helplessness and weakness which the needy/dependent demonstrate, it is perhaps surprising how powerful his emotional influence can be. It is not easy to ignore it without appearing to be heartless and selfish. Suddenly you are on his “hook” and in the middle of something. You are in charge!
Be aware, the magical system of the dependency-needy style is a mutual seduction system! Maybe you like what he offers you?
The strength in it is the ability to ask for help and support. The development is to ask for help and support only if there is a reason! A strength of the needy/dependent style is to ask others for help and to be able to accept their help.
As a development direction Schulz von Thun called the needy/dependent style autonomy and responsibility. Next, they should learn to ask specifically for help, rather than presenting themselves as basically helpless.
What is the secret to an excellent leadership? Based on the 3P model from Lindsay Adams the most important skills are:
Passion
There is not leader without the passion for his vision, work, service and products! Anybody around, co-worker, partner, customer, can feel his passion and get inspired. A passionate leader shares his passion with his subordinates and inspires them for more action, more outcome and finally more success. Passionate leader gets partner instead of employees.
Persistence
If people really going for their vision, persistence is the natural consequence. All important invention’s came together with highest passion and persistence. Thomas Alva Edison, he was the inventor of the first practicable light bulb, said „Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration.“. Leaders are challenged to proof every day their inability to give up and the ability to find the direction to succeed.
Perception
Do you know someone without perception’? Be happy! It was a new Buddha or somebody who is enlighten. We all have perception’s about situations, people, whatever. Our perceptions can be positive or negative and they really influence our subconscious. We don’t even know about that our perception influence our behavior. An excellent leader is aware about the power of perception and will give his attention to create the right perceptions in his team. It is much more effective changing the perception in a team instead of changing the behavior. The change of behavior creates no inner intelligence of the process. Changing the perception creates the inner intelligence for a permanent improvement process pushed by the team.
How to use the 3Ps?
Before your start become clear about your perceptions! Intense your positives and change your negative perceptions in the right direction. Than be passionate and persist but I would say, it is the nature of positive perceptions that passion and persistence follow them.

10. “Überschütten” Sie neue Ideen mit positiver
Aufmerksamkeit!
